Author: Rafael Griera y Calderón (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1934). Title: Untitled (1987). Description: oil on canvas framed. Certificate of authenticity is attached. Measures without frame 46x38 cm. Artwork in good condition. The son of an image carver who had his Artworkshop in Olot, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in this city and attended the Cràter d'art group. He lived in Olot from 1942 to 1960, and then spent almost his entire career in Barcelona. He exhibited for the first time, essentially landscapes, in 1953; then contact in Palma de Mallorca (1956), where he was doing military service, with Anglada Camarasa and other painters, made him drift for a while towards informalist painting. When he returned to figuration, he had completely broken with the Olotin tradition and since then his painting, which flees from luminosity, seems to have the Nordic schools as its model. He has also done commercial illustrations.
